“I am very optimistic about[Metricon’s] future and so should you all be,” Casson said.

In a meeting with the state government earlier this week,Metricon did not seek a bailout. But a government spokeswoman confirmed the company did indicate it was under financial pressure.

Sources aware of Metricon’s financial situation said the group was yet to engage with any insolvency specialists.

Inflation and supply chain issues have hit the construction industry particularly hard. Numerous Victorian construction companiesbecame insolvent recently,largely due to shortages of both materials and tradespeople.
