People who live in Balmain,Rozelle and Glebe seized an opportunity to comment on the draft master plan for the first stage of the project around White Bay and Robert Street, which will incorporate the power station,a two-hectare waterfront park, offices, cultural spaces, eateries and apartments around the future metro train station.
More than 300 residents attended a public meeting, organised by Balmain MP Jamie Parker, and used more than 600 submissions to vent concerns about the development, including that it will encroach on the power station and worsen traffic.
Michele Hacking,of Rozelle, was worried the power station, built between 1912 and 1917,would be “crowded out”.

“The buildings will be monstrous, overshadowing the heritage building and blocking views from the southern side around Glebe and Annandale.
“They will dwarf the power station. The Anzac Bridge is iconic and needs to stand out on the Sydney skyline, and so does the power station.”
The largest towers proposed for the site will be between 12 and 22 storeys and set back from the waterfront near the ramps to the Anzac Bridge. The tallest building will be about four storeys higher than the power station’s two chimney stacks, under the draft master plan.
