After the committee’s Labor majority blocked the release of a CCC letter – as part of an answer to a question taken on notice in a public hearing with the anti-corruption agency –late last month, its four MPs failed to even attend apublic meeting this week.
The move left the committee unable to even form a quorum for the meeting,in a situation that was described by its LNP chair,Jon Krause,as “extraordinary” and was criticised by former Labor Speaker John Mickel.

Palaszczuk confirmed in March that Trad was covered by an indemnity scheme enabling the former minister to have her costs met by the government in her court action against the CCC last year to suppress a so-far unpublished report into the recruitment of a senior Treasury official.
It is unknown whether the report makes any findings against Trad.
The CCC’s costs, which are also to be paid by taxpayers, are separate to the legal bill run up by Trad under the indemnity scheme.
After the failed public meeting of the committee on Thursday, members met again privately on Friday afternoon and voted to release the correspondence.
