Police never took a statement from Turvey,claiming his health was the priority. Brearley was initially charged with unlawful wounding however that was upgraded to murder on Monday.
He appeared briefly in Midland Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was remanded in custody.
Turvey’s mother,Mechelle Turvey,attended the court hearing flanked by family members.
“I’m heartbroken for my son;15 years of age;for no reason,I have lost him,” she said.
“I’m just appalled at some of the violence going on in our communities.”
Detectives believe four people were inside the black ute involved in the attack and are calling for people in the area at the time to submit their dashcam or CCTV footage to police.
Loved ones paid tribute to Turvey online following news of his death.
“Rest in paradise my lil’ soldier sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me,I hope one day I get to see you again my lil’ shadow,” wrote one person.
“This world is so cruel,RIP ... forever young,” wrote another.
Brearley was remanded in custody to appear in court again on November 9.
