With the March election approaching,he said the government’s multibillion-dollar privatisation pipeline, including of the state’s poles and wires, had failed to keep prices low for consumers, ruling out any more sales of public assets.

Minns is also looking at ways to establish a public energy company such as CleanCo in Queensland, which is a government-owned renewable energy company,or the proposed State Electricity Commission in Victoria.
As part of its re-election pitch, the Victorian government announced it would revive the publicly owned State Electricity Commission and bring forward its net-zero emissions goals. The Andrews government said it would spend $20 million reviving the commission, which was privatised in the 1990s by Liberal premier Jeff Kennett.
“We are certainly focused on the idea that there will be a big windfall for private companies with the renewable energy transition in Australia and the reality is I would like to explore NSW taxpayers taking some of that advantage,” Minns said.
