“The demographic here is very multicultural,” president of Burwood’s P&C Wendy Tu said. “We thought we’d appeal to our demographic this year and see if that makes a difference over the sausages.”
About 97 per cent of Burwood’s 500 students are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Tu said the grounds and facilities, including demountable classrooms built in the 1970s,are in urgent need of refurbishment.
“We’d need to sell a bazillion dumplings for that,” Tu said. If the stall goes well the money will go towards new play equipment.
“We are a little nervous. We don’t know how it’s going to go.”
Meanwhile, the volunteers behind Camdenville Public School’s election extravaganza are gunning to shore up their reputation as the state’s best election pun enthusiasts.
The stall will see the return of theirtrademark chocolate ICACkles alongside other state-themed delicacies including a pepperminns slice,Dominic pear-o-tarts and hokey pokies (no cash accepted).
