Neighbouring Riparian Plaza,a mixed-use development that is home to some of Brisbane’s most affluent inner-city residents, took issue with the Dexus development and appealed against its approval in the Planning and Environment Court.
That appeal wasdismissed in December, when Judge Michael Williamson found Brisbane City Council’s decision to approve the development was valid and reasonable.
But the owner of Riparian Plaza,Riverside Development Pty Ltd,has appealed that decision, citing concerns over Dexus’ use of an existing easement on Riparian Plaza land, used by the under-demolition Eagle Street Pier.
In seeking leave to appeal, solicitor Mark Cowan, for Riverside Development, said use of that easement had not been consented.
A Dexus spokesman said while the company acknowledged the appeal,it was still all systems go for the project.
“The $2.5 billion project will transform the Eagle Street riverfront into a world-class precinct for the people of Brisbane and the businesses that will work there,” he said in a written statement.
“The Queensland Planning and Environment Court has found Brisbane City Council’s decision to approve the development was valid and reasonable and Dexus is progressing the project.”
