The officers were at a property near Shepparton for an arrest when Turvey allegedly approached them armed with a firearm just after midday.

He fled the scene at Katandra West and shortly after,while in pursuit,the officers’ car lost control and rolled on Creighton Road about 12.30pm.

The police car was left partially crushed,with the bonnet smashed in.

The pair suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for observation.

Turvey then stopped at a random residence in Youanmite where he forced a male resident to drive him to Finley in NSW.

It is believed the male was then released in Finley and was not injured.

Nine News reported that a neighbour said Turvey was shirtless and yelling when he faced off with police at the property.

“All the police were crouched down with their guns pulled,” she said.

“They kept saying to him,‘Put your weapon down and put your hands behind your head,’ and then he just walked back and he said,‘I’m not f---ing going back to jail again.’”

Officers were guarding the home where the initial incident took place,Nine reported. It is understood Turvey had been put up at the home for the night and allegedly stole the resident’s car when he fled police.

Members of the public are advised not to approach Turvey if he is sighted,but to contact triple zero (000) immediately.
