The perks included overseas flights,luxury hotel stays,and nightclub trips between 2015 and 2019.
NSW Local Government Minister Ron Hoenigsuspended Tsirekas from the council hours after the commission handed down its final report,which had recommended his swift removal from office.
Hoenig’s office on Wednesday released a statement confirming that Tsirekas,a former state and federal Labor candidate who has been a local councillor for 25 years,had been dismissed.

“The immediate dismissal and disqualification of Mr Tsirekas is necessary to protect the public standing of the council,and local government generally,” the statement said.
Hoenig had considered the watchdog’s findings and formed the view from the evidence that Tsirekas “could no longer continue in office,as to do so would have impacted upon the public confidence in the integrity of the council”,the statement said.
“The potential prosecution or otherwise of a number of people mentioned in the ICAC report is a matter for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
