The expanded trial will now include about 4500 machines across 24 metropolitan and regional local government areas. It will start in the first quarter of next year.
Cabra-Vale Diggers,Dooleys Catholic Club and Twin Towns Services Club – which between them have almost 1500 machines – are among the venues in the trial,as well as the Albion Hotel in Parramatta,the Crows Nest Hotel and the Broken Hill Musicians Club.
Gaming and Racing Minister David Harris said the strong interest in the trial showed the “industry is clearly behind us” in stamping out money laundering and gambling harm in NSW.
The 4500 machines in the trial are in addition to more than 250 machines that were trialled in Wests City,Newcastle,and Club York in the Sydney CBD.
Five technology providers have also been given conditional approval to take part in the expanded trial,subject to meeting essential cybersecurity requirements.
To participate in the trial,minimum requirements for clubs and pubs included harm minimisation protections,anti-money-laundering protections,data security and privacy protections.
