“The investigation is ongoing,” an AFL spokesman told this masthead,after a report that Thomas was facing a lengthy penalty.
The 23-year-old has not trained with the club since January 17 when the investigation that has put his career in jeopardy became public.
The league’s integrity unit spoke to Thomas at AFL headquarters on January 29. He was accompanied by his manager and a legal representative during the two-hour meeting.

North Melbourne football manager Todd Viney said on Monday the club had no issue with the time it was taking.
“It’s been driven by the AFL and we have not had the information through this process,” Viney said. “We are comfortable because of the nature of the allegations with the time[it’s taking].”
He said the club wanted all the details before making a judgement on Thomas’s future,and would then carefully consider its decision.
