The opposition leader has vowed to declare every contribution he receives to his fighting fund, including payments fromthree former Liberal premiers – Jeff Kennett,Ted Baillieu and Denis Napthine.
When asked about donation laws outside parliament on Wednesday,Wells said he wouldn’t be making a donation to either side. “This going to court is really dumb, this should be sorted out,” he said.
“You’ve got three former premiers, they’ve taken a side, which means the party is going to be more divided than it already is.
“They should be using their time, their effort and their influence to come up with a solution.”
Wells said he had been involved in six different types of mediation to resolve the dispute between Pesutto and Deeming.
“Ted,Denis and Jeff probably have a lot more influence than me,and they can get this resolved one way or the other,” he said. “It needs to come to a head. This needs to be resolved so we can get on with working as a team and moving forward.”
