The 16-year-old boy is reported to have made his way to the co-ordinator’s office,where first aid was provided. Emergency services were called to the Melton South school shortly after 3pm.
The student was taken to Sunshine Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was receiving treatment on Tuesday evening.
Police say a weapon was confiscated from the school grounds and officers made contact with the family of the alleged offender.
The student later presented himself to Melton police station after fleeing from the school following the incident.
Melton crime investigation unit detectives were investigating,police said.
Several students and staff at the school witnessed the incident and have been offered wellbeing support.
