So,as of 10.45pm,with nearly 50 per cent of the votes counted, here is the statewide state of play.
The 2PP was at 55:45 in Labor’s favour, off the back of a primary vote of 37.1 per cent - up 3.8 per cent from the 2019 election. The 2PP swing was sitting right on 7 per cent.
The Liberal Party’s primary vote was down 4.9 per cent,to 27.1 per cent, and the National Party’s primary was down 2 per cent. The Greens were up 0. 6 per cent to 10.2 per cent.
Labor has picked up the following seats:Camden,East Hills,Heathcote,Monaro,Parramatta,Penrith,Riverstone,Ryde,South Coast and Terrigal. The Liberals had lost Wakehurst to an independent.
That’s enough to give Labor 47 seats and therefore a majority in the 93-seat Legislative Assembly.
Many seats were still too close to call:Goulburn,Holsworthy,Kiama,Miranda,Oatley,Pittwater,Willoughby,Winston Hills and Wollondilly. Pittwater,Willoughby and Wollondilly are toss-ups between the Liberals and independents, while the remainder were Liberal v. Labor contests.
The Nationals held on to all their seats except Monaro,a Labor gain, while the Greens were set to hold their three seats. Nine’s Decision Desk has recently called Balmain for the Greens, despite Labor coming close to winning the seat back following the retirement ofJamie Parker.
