Home away for a record high
Former actorHolly Brisley was recently contemplating a major renovation of her Balgowlah Heights home of the past nine years, but given how values have soared among her fellow Forty Baskets Beach neighbours has instead opted to cash it in on the market.
Brisley and her corporate adviser husbandPaul Ford bought their four-bedroom house with a rooftop terrace in 2012 for $3.8 million amid a prestige housing slump. “We knew we were buying well at the time because it was the post-GFC[global financial crisis] market, and I don’t think you can ever go wrong in Sydney owning on the harbour.”
Two years later near neighbour, former Caltex chiefJulian Segal, set a suburb high of $8.5 million in 2014,and that was topped again two doors away in 2017 at $11.8 million.
Clarke&Humel’s directors Michael Clarke and Cherie Humel hope to set a new high at the December 18 auction, given a guide of $12.5 million to $13.75 million.

Former Olympic sprinterDean Capobianco and his wife Julie have traded up closer to the beach in Bronte for $6.6 million.
The three-bedroom semi on a good-sized 440 square metres, sold on the quiet by McGrath’s Chris Volpatti,is expected to be a major renovation job for the couple, much as they did on their former Clovelly home.
Capobianco, chief of geospatial data company Geoscape Australia, recently sold his Californian bungalow on busy Clovelly Road ahead of auction for $5.425 million, well above their $4.5 million guide.
