The bookies would all go broke if their longshots were as safe a bet as this bright cafe on the main strip at Beecroft. Taking up residence at the foot of an old-school arcade,its open window is perfectly placed to tease passers-by with a view of the Kees van der Westen,Mirage Triplette Classic machine and the aroma of well-made Morgan's coffee. A single origin roast is used for macchiato,short blacks and piccolos ($3.50),which are appealingly smoky and full-bodied. Food istaken just as seriously,with everything from sandwiches and muffins to seared Atlantic salmon. Well worth a punt.
