The Shortlist is so edgy it should be renamed Fringe,with its down-and-coming location,Darlington,rendering deepest,darkest Darlinghurst twee by comparison. Owner and barista,former journo Rebecca Keane,however,is not too cool for school (or uni,with the University of Sydney nearby) at her warm timber-lined,antique-stuffed caff. She's a constant at the espresso machine,pumping out an excellent,earthy caffe latte ($3),a blend of five beans from Little Marionette,to the passing students,academics and local residents. Goes well with a Black Star Pastry treat.
