Last year, police recommended charges against William Tyrrell’s foster mother to the director of public prosecutions. On Tuesday they asked that prosecutors pause their review of the evidence.
The missing boy’s foster parents have been convicted of intimidation of another child, with each sentenced to 12-month good behaviour bonds.
The missing boy’s foster father was on Friday found guilty after yelling at the child in his car, while Tyrrell’s foster mother had threatened to slap the child on two occasions.
Magistrate John Arms said some of the commission’s questions were vague and he could not be satisfied the man had knowingly given false or misleading answers.
At a secretive examination,it was suggested that William toppled off a verandah before his foster mother disposed of his body. She insisted:“I didn’t.”
Prosecutors will give advice by January on whether the woman could be charged over the toddler’s accidental death,an inquest was told. She maintains her innocence.
A support person who sat in on a police interview in 2021 said the child sobbed during a break and disclosed the foster father had anger management issues,a court heard.
Police recorded the woman having arguments with a crying child who is not the missing toddler, and her hitting them with a wooden spoon.
The woman hit and kicked the child, who is not William,in 2021. She is contesting other charges of intimidating the same child.
The pair asked a third party to make dummy bids at the auction of their Sydney home in an attempt to increase the sale price, according to court documents.
