One-year-old boy dies after being hit by ute at holiday park near Dubbo

A one-year-old boy has died in hospital after he was struck by a ute at a holiday park south-east of Dubbo on Saturday morning.

Police and ambulance officers were called to the park at Mumbil,on the shores of Lake Burrendong,about 11am after receiving reports that a vehicle had hit the child.

An ambulance spokesperson said the boy was aged between 12 and 18 months. He was treated at the scene and then flown by helicopter to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.

Police said on Saturday night that the boy had since died in hospital. A crime scene was established and police are investigating.

In a separate incident,an 11-year-old girl also died in hospital on Saturday,eight days after a horror multi-vehicle crash near Lithgow that claimed the lives of two men on December 29.
