A statement from Buckingham Palace said the King, who spent three nights in the exclusive London Clinic, would now reschedule his public engagements “to allow for a period of private recuperation”.
“His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days,” a statement from Buckingham Palace said.
The monarch, who only acceded to the throne 16 months ago,had to cancel engagements ahead of the surgery as his doctors urged him to rest, though the exact nature of his treatment is not known.
Earlier Catherine,42,who went into hospital for planned surgery on January 16,was driven to her home in Windsor, without any public appearance.
A statement from Kensington Palace on Monday said that she had been discharged and would “continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.”
“The prince and princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided,” the palace said.
