The bodies of Baird and Davis were eventually left off Jerrara Road leading to the Greek Orthodox Holy Monastery of Saint Fanourios at Bungonia in the Southern Tablelands of NSW.
However, they weren’t discovered until Lamarre-Condon allegedly pinpointed the site from his Silverwater jail cell on Tuesday afternoon.
Now,24 hours later, police have finished their job at the crime scene.
Butterflies flutter around the clearing as the midday sun heat thickens. Scraggly bushland with gum trees, shrubs and rocks line the verge of the paved roadway winding around Bungonia National Park, which opens to lush green farmland with cows and horses.
The alleged killer would have driven 20 minutes past the small hamlet of Bungonia with a population of about 20,where homes line the road with clean green grass and rose bushes.
Driving deeper towards the edge of the national park,he would have arrived at a gravel road turn-off with gum trees towering over the clearing.
