Federal Labor MPAndrew Charlton and his barrister wifePhoebe Arcus have purchased a second “home” in the heart of his Parramatta electorate for just shy of $2 million.

Settlement on the purchase comes amid speculation about Charlton’s real estate plans,after renovations organised for the 1970s house he bought for $1.95 million in North Parramatta last year were taking too long.

The luxury sub-penthouse is in The Lennox tower set on the banks of the Parramatta River and developed by Novm,the property developer headed byAdrian Liaw that was previously a subsidiary of Hong Kong-listed China Aoyuan Group.

Records show a Charlton family trust settled on the five-bedroom property for $1.93 million. The apartment on level 46 of the building,completed 18 months ago,comes with a communal swimming pool,gymnasium,BBQ area,function room and 24-hour security.

The five-bedroom house in the heart of Bowral is chump change compared to the staggering sums usually paid by the co-founder of software giant Atlassian,whose NSW property portfolio totals more than $300 million.

Among Cannon-Brookes’s most pricey purchases are his$100 million Fairwater estate in Point Piper,his$15 million Southern Highlands farm,and more recent acquisitions like the $14 million Greyladyes Farm and $9.1 million Tintagel property,both also in the Southern Highlands.
