The food at this friendly,character-filled rabbit warren of a country pub would give anyone a run for their money. On the day we visited the sign on the verandah said'dynamic new chef'and it was no idle boast. The pub standards were there but so were Jamaican jerk chicken, root vegie and rabbit stew and goat curry. Beef stroganoff arrives dripping its luscious heart into the centre of a freshly baked damper casserole dish. The Jamaican chicken, marinated in lime juice and spices and grilled,is succulent and leaves the lips tingling but not burned. But the accompanying, exquisite, chips almost overshadow it.
