Just hours after attending an Inner West Labor meeting,Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was spotted downing a beer at a Gang of Youths concert, cheered on by the crowd at the Enmore Theatre.
One attendee toldThe Sydney Morning Herald andThe Age that Albanese and his partner Jodie Haydon barely had a chance to take their seats before the audience spotted him with his beer and cheered him on to finish it.
Wearing a Joy Division shirt, the prime minister sunk a schooner while the crowd chanted “Here’s to Albo”. After finishing his beer,he gave the crowd a wave, and sat down to enjoy the concert, held in his electorate of Grayndler.
Another attendee said that Albanese was spotted as soon as he took his seat, leading to cheers from the crowd. He responded by waving, and obliged in response to crowd demands to drink his beer.
During the band’s set,Gang of Youths frontman David Le’aupepe said that Albanese was “a very nice man”,but added that he himself was an anarchist.
Albanese’s night of fun comes days after Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin wascriticised for a leaked video that showed her dancing and singing with friends at a private party.
The Finnish PM apologised for the video but admitted that she had “nothing to conceal or hide” and hadn’t “done anything illegal”.
