A little oasis,Little Byrd is quirky,casual and cute. Aluminium saucepan lids decorate the exposed brick walls and a wide coffee bar is loaded up with Little Bertha sweets and- for vegans- Mister Nice Guy cupcakes. Breakfast ranges from free-range eggs with baked beans,avocado and goat's cheese to finger-licking crunchy blueberry and pecan waffles with mascarpone and maple syrup. The small lunch menu kicks off at noon with offerings of bagels (perhaps with turkey,cranberry,cream cheese and alfalfa;or smoked salmon) but it's yia yia's (grandma's) mightily good spanakopita,a hearty version of the Greek classic,that's Little Byrd's biggest drawcard.
